The translation of world literature to Baluchi language is very limited. The translation of the classic Aesop Fable, “the Pigeon and the ant” is an attempt by Karim Baluch to introduce popular children's stories originally in a foreign language to the Baluchi readers.

    Aesop Fables

One sunny day, the ant was looking for water. After a while, he came near a lake.

He wanted to drink water, but he couldn’t reach it. Then he saw a long grass reaching into the water. He quickly climbed on it and walked to the water.

Suddenly, he slipped and fell into the water.

A pigeon flying over the lake saw him in trouble.

She quickly found a leaf and left it near the ant.

The ant climbed on it and the pigeon carried him by the lake.

At that moment, a huntsman saw the pigeon and took out his net to catch her.

When he was coming towards her, the ant noticed the huntsman and bit her foot to warn. The pigeon suddenly jumped and saw the huntsman and flew away.
